LGBT older people experience negative reactions in care and their needs are often overlooked. In some cases they feel forced to hide their sexual identity and are pushed back into the closet. To raise awareness and acceptation of LGBT seniors in care it is important that our future health and social care staff recognizes the importance of sexual identity and orientation in their assessments and care practices.

BEING ME provides educators in care and wellbeing with a set of learning resources to promote inclusive care for LGBT older people among their students. BEING ME invites you to download our resources and give your feedback.

World Café Session

This report is based on our experiences of using a collaborative approach to identifying best practices for those involved in professional, vocational and community-based education and learning, in order to facilitate improved support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) older people in health and social care

The best practices discussed here on learning and teaching, emerged from cross national collaboration and intercultural dialogue with a variety of stakeholders, including older LGBT people, educators, practitioners and learners using the World Café method.
